Science trip reflection

Today in science I went on a trip to a reef to do a survey. I chose to do the crab survey.

One thing I found interesting was how you know what sex a crab is, more specifically an iron crab. You can tell by the underside being either sharp or more rounded. If rounded then the crab would be a female and if sharper than it’s male. I only found two females.

One thing I didn’t like was almost falling over a bunch of times because of the slippery and small movable rocks. Another thing would probably be someone bringing a crab on the bus.

One thing I did well was whenever I lifted up a rock I’d make sure to put it back down in the same place and not crush any crabs that would be underneath.

I liked learning about the crabs and other wildlife. It has definitely enhanced my interest in marine biology.

Pixel art

Pixel art is a fun thing to do in your free time. this is some pixel art I made of my name.

They all have an ombre theme to them, however with the E I had to make it a bit bigger and add two extra colours. I feel like it adds it’s own personal touch though.

2023 the year that was

The thing I am most proud of is my work in science for MRSCGREN and creative writing.
The best progress I’ve made this year would be my maths turning from 3A to 4B.
My favourite assignment this year was myth essay because it was the first essay I’ve ever done.
The most interesting thing I learned this year was how kiwis are protected.
The thing I want to do better next year is my attendance because then I’ll be caught up with all my tasks.
The thing I struggled with most this year is my physical education.
3 words to describe this year are growth, exploration, and confidence.
Best pic of 2023 is me before going on the flying kiwi at Topec.

TOPEC

On the 25th of August my class and I went to TOPEC for the day. The thing I enjoyed most about TOPEC was the flying kiwi because it was fun to be up in the air.

The thing I tried the hardest on was the peg game on the rope course. Something I did well on was the rock climbing wall.

Here are some photos of me in a harness for the flying kiwi, on the rope course, and on the rock climbing wall.

AI Images

An important question that we should ask about AI is what can you do with it and what is it good for?  Something I learned about AI is that you can use it to make choices, help you learn about subjects, and make images.

for example: a lion wearing a dress in an office.

Polynesian Explorers: Diaries

In 9LDO we’ve been researching polynesian explorers and are beginning to write in the perspective of us as a teenager 1000 years ago leaving Hawiiki and finding Aotearoa. The picture is a screenshot of my list of food/Supplies they took with them.

Some things that I learned about Polynesian Explorers are their way of navigation, the food they took with them, and what wakas they used

Something I realised is that the journey that they made was really long.

Something I need to work on is finding the right websites to find information so i can write my diary correctly.
